Let's rewind and see how did it begin:

Bp. Angelo Poli wrote to then Apostolic delegate of India, Rev. Msgr. Fumasoni Bondi about his desire and the need for opening a Seminary

The cradle of the infant seminary came to existence in a portion of the priest's house at Khurji near Patna, and was inaugurated with two candidates only

Rev. Fr. Bartholomew of Casola Val Senio, OFM Cap was appointed as the First Rector

03 Feb 1921

His Lordship Bp. Angelo Poli transfers the seminary with six brothers to Allahabad

The beginning Staff: Fr. Otto Hogan, Fr. Sebastian Lewis and two secular priests were appointed as a Spiritual directors & Music masters

The new building and the first chapel were inaugurated by the Apostolic Vicar Msgr. Alex Lepicier

The first fruits: His Lordship raised the two first alumni of the seminary, Rev. Joseph Evans & Rev. Pascal Sinha to the exulted dignity of Priesthood

31 Jan 1926

The number of the seminarians increased to 13. His Lordship Angelo Poli, OFM Cap renovated and enlarged the building. A storey was added to the original building.

French Canadian Capuchins took up the administration of the Seminary. Rev. Fr. Bernard, OFM Cap. & others with collaboration of the diocesan clergy on the staff gave a missionary dimension to the priestly formation.

Due to the War, the British decided to intern the Italian Fathers & Fr. Conrad, the then Rector was taken to a prison camp.

The Seminary celebrates its Silver Jubilee. Archbishop Leo Kerkels, the delegate to India & the Archbishop of Delhi & Agra were present.

The Jesuit Fathers take up the care of the Seminary. Rev. Fr. Spillebout, SJ became the first Jesuit Rector.

This year saw the Golden Jubilee of the Seminary. The new block of the Library & the Auditorium was opened.

10 Nov 1969

00 --- 1973

Under the chairmanship of Bp. Alfred Fernandes, St. Joseph's Seminary was raised to the status of Regional Seminary.

The Seminary got affiliated to the Pontifical Urban University, Rome through the efforts of Rev. Fr. Joe Castelino.

19 Oct 1994

The Seminary celebrated its Platinum Jubilee.

The opening ceremony of the centenary year of the seminary chaired by Archbishop Albert D'Souza of Agra. The blessing of renovated chapel & the refectory, construction of Josem garden.
